Hypoxia, when the cells in the body lack oxygen. Any disorder causing hypoxia can be managed with oxygen administration, to reduce the effects of hypoxia.

The use of oxygen as a medical treatment is called oxygen therapy. When there is a lack of oxygen at the blood level, oxygen therapy can be prescribed as a treatment or preventive measure.
